Teen Charged in Shooting Death of Granite City Boy

GRANITE CITY, IL (KMOX) – Charges have been filed against a teenager in the shooting death of a Granite City boy, 13, who was sitting on his porch.

LaRoyce McFadden, 17, was charged Friday with first-degree murder and aggravated battery with a firearm in the death of Clayton Veninga Wednesday.

Veninga was sitting on his porch in the 2000 block of Cleveland in Granite City when he was shot in the abdomen. Veninga later died.

No bond has been set for McFadden, according to a press release by Granite City Police.

Police did not release a motive for the murder but said previously they do not believe it was gang-related.
