Suspect in Custody For Friday’s Officer-Involved Shooting

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – A man who was shot while trying to strong-arm an off-duty St. Louis police officer, now faces multiple charges.

Police say 44-year-old Laderrell Smith of St. Louis is jailed on $45,000 bond.

Charges include second-degree burglary, attempting to disarm a police officer, attempted third-degree assault of a police officer, and resisting arrest.

Police say the off-duty officer interrupted a burglary in progress, Friday afternoon, in the 5200 block of Lexington.

Laderrell Smith was shot once in the hip during the struggle.
