Wentzville Police Officer Rescues Son Shot By Mother

Brad Choat

WENTZVILLE, Mo. (KMOX) – It was an act considered “extremely rare” by Wentzville police spokesman Paul West.

“They were unable to get the ambulance into the immediate area, so the officer literally picked the young man up and carried him about a block and a half to where the ambulance was staged,” said Major West.

A Wentzville juvenile called police, Saturday afternoon, and told them his mother had shot him then turned the gun on herself.

Major West said the responding officer found the victim lying in a driveway, “It was a situation that was unfolding. The officer did not know if the shooter was still active or not. Fearing for the young man’s safety, he literally put his own life in danger.”

West said police found 44-year-old Laurie Anderson of Wentzville dead inside the family’s home.

Her son is in stable condition.

Police have determined that Anderson likely did shoot her son, then shot herself.
