The Hot New Trend in Housing: Single Women
ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The “Man Cave” has been a popular home improvement trend in recent years but real estate experts say the focus may be shifting.
“One of the fastest-growing demographic groups that we’re paying a lot of attention to as it relates to housing is single women,” Coldwell Banker Gundaker President Jim Dohr said. “Currently, one out of five homes that are purchased across the country are purchased by a single woman and there are 25 million single women over the age of 45. So they are women of means.”
Due to this recent trend, more homeowners are paying attention to bathrooms, big closets, and manicured outdoor seating areas.
“A nice bathroom with a nice vanity; good counter tops, nice finish,” Dohr explained. “Even something as simple as changing the decor, the paint; good flooring.”
