Car Stolen With 2-Year-Old Inside; Child Found Safe Moments Later

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — It was just supposed to be a quick run for some cash, but it almost ended in unspeakable tragedy for one man overnight.

St. Louis police say it all unfolded at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday at the St. Louis Community Credit Union located in the 3600 block of Forest Park Parkway near Grand.

A man parked his car to use the credit union’s ATM — in the back seat, his sleeping 2-year-old son. But while he was using the machine the victim told police he saw a gray Impala pull up next to his car and a man jumped out and into his vehicle, taking off with the victim’s child still inside.

Just six minutes later a witness reported seeing the stolen car in the 2800 block of Montgomery, located about 2 miles south and according to a police spokesman “a straight shot down Grand”.

The 2-year-old boy was still inside, asleep and unharmed.

The suspect, only described as a “black male”, remains at large.

Police say at this time is does not appear that the father will be charged.
