National Weather Service Meteorologist Melissa Buird expects storms to start popping up between eight and ten this evening. She says storms are already forming over southwestern Missouri and moving to the northeast.
“This activity will eventually move to the east towards the St. Louis area later this evening more likely between 8-10 p.m.,” said Buird.
She says to expect the severe weather to stay in the region through 3 a.m.
“People can expect anywhere from large hail, damaging winds — possibly in excess of 70 mph, as well as tornadoes with these storms.”
Buird says there is a chance for severe weather through Wednesday.
