JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Missouri lawmakers are planning to study St. Louis County’s governance and taxing structure in the months ahead.
A special committee has been charged with commissioning an independent study to provide a “comprehensive analysis of the taxation and governance issues.”
The joint House and Senate panel will submit recommendations for proposed legislation to legislative leaders by the end of this year.
Lawmakers created the committee shortly before ending their 2013 session on Friday. A similar panel met in 2012 but lawmakers want to study the issue further before pressing forward with legislation.
