ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – More details are emerging about what a recent credit card breach may cost the grocery chain Schnucks.
In Illinois alone a class action suit is asking for some $80 million. The St. Louis Business Journal reports that in a May 17th court filing seeking a new venue, the company says 1.6 million transactions at 23 stores in Illinois could have been involved.
The Business Journal’s Diana Barr says it’s estimated 500,000 accounts could have been impacted.
“Damages were calculated at $7.25 an hour to resolve the issue, adding up to $7.25 million for victims in Illinois,” she explained. “Plaintiffs could receive eleven times the damages.”
It is still not clear what kind of damages Schnucks could face in Missouri.
