Twins Call Up P.J. Walters

DETROIT (AP/KMOX) –The Minnesota Twins have called up right-hander P.J. Walters from Triple-A Rochester to start Saturday against the Detroit Tigers.

The Twins optioned outfielder Oswaldo Arcia to Rochester after Friday night’s loss to the Tigers. The 28-year-old Walters hasn’t pitched in the majors this year. He went 2-5 with a 5.69 ERA in 12 starts for Minnesota in 2012.

Walters started the season with Rochester, where he was 4-2 with a 3.31 ERA.

An 11th round draft pick by the St. Louis Cardinals (346 overall) in 2006, the University of South Alabama product broke into the big leagues in 2009. He played for the Cards until 2011.
