Body of Drowned Fisherman Found in Mississippi River

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — The body of a St. Louis man who disappeared in a fishing-related accident has been recovered from the Mississippi River.

54-year-old Bobbie Billups was pulled from the river Saturday by the Fire Department’s Marine Unit. Authorities notified family members before releasing his name on Monday.

Billups disappeared in the Mississippi on May 20th while fishing with a friend below Merchant’s Bridge. The friend said Billups got into his car to start the engine, and the vehicle rolled into the water.

The friend was unable to rescue Billups from the car. Other fishermen later saw him floating face-down in the river.
