ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KMOX) — They allegedly recruited two financially struggling single teenage mothers to have sex for money. Now a man and his girlfriend are hiding from the law after being charged with sex trafficking and promoting prostitution.
St. Charles County Prosecutor Tim Lohmar says Samantha Ginochhio befriended one of the girls by becoming a regular at a restaurant where she worked. The other girl recruited a friend.
Lohmar says Ginocchio and Michael Johnson promised the 18 and 19 year olds quick money, but always shortchanged them.
“Some cases they’d provide her with a meal, alcohol or marijuana, and then they’d charge back those services,” said Lohmar. “In other words they would pay her 80 dollars, charge back 60 dollars so she might just get a 20 dollar bill.”
Lohmar says they kept the girls working for a few weeks by promising more money, and through intimidation.
Lohmar says when a customer turned out to be an undercover officer, one of the victims was more than willing to cooperate in the investigation.
