Pipes Removed from Bridgeton Landfill

BRIDGETON, MO (KMOX) – People who have been smelling the underground fires at the Bridgeton landfill got some good news.

Attorney General Chris Koster announed a big step toward eliminating the smell.

Crews have completed the removal of concrete pipes in the landfill, so the next step will be to cap off the landfill with plastic to smother the fire.

Koster who has been monitoring the progress called this a significan step but added there is still a lot of work to be done.
