Two Injured in Festus Plane Crash

FESTUS, MO (KMOX) – A small plane came to a crash landing in the middle of a Festus field just after nine o’clock Monday night, sending a father and son to the hospital.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department Captain Ron Arnhart says the father is in his 60s, the son in his 40s.

“They left the Festus Airport just about 6:30 p.m. to go out on an evening flight,” he said.

Arnhart says they don’t know what caused the plane to crash but both men were conscious enough to call police.

“We had an officer who was able to talk to the pilot on the phone who assisted at bringing the searchers to their location which is the 2500 block of Plattin road,” the police captain said.

Both were airlifted to a local hospital.

The Federal Aviation Authority will investigate the scene on Tuesday.
