CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) — Attendance is down significantly at Missouri’s newest casino.
The Southeast Missourian reports that the number of visitors at Isle Casino Cape Girardeau dropped 42 percent in May from a peak of 123,000 in March. It was the lowest monthly total since the casino opened Oct. 30. Attendance in April was 81,896.
The casino did collect more money per patron, though $69.42 in May, up from $61.88 in both March and April.
Missouri’s other 12 casinos all had attendance increases in May.
Cape Girardeau Mayor Harry Rediger says the drop in attendance does not alarm him.
