BRIDGETON, MO. (KMOX) – A Bridgeton woman is charged with animal abuse after police spotted her dog being dragged behind her pickup truck on I-70.
St. Charles Police say 33 year old Amy Taylor was traveling at between 60-and-65 miles an hour and dragging a dog named Coco.
When they stopped Taylor she told police she had just picked up the dog at a vet and had placed him in a small kennel in the back of the truck, but didn’t know how he got out and wound-up being dragged. Police say Taylor did however admit that she knew there were no screws to hold the kennel together.
The incident occurred on I-70 near Zumbehl Road on May 22nd. Taylor has been charged with a misdemeanor.
Police say Coco was severely injured at the time but is now in good condition and is expected to make a full recovery.
