Alton Recognizes Hometown Hero Miles Davis

ALTON, Mo (KMOX) – Miles Davis, who is widely considered one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century, will be honored by his Metro East hometown.

Organizers plan to have a bronze statue of Davis built in Alton’s downtown entertainment district. The plan is to have a rendering completed in July and the project completed by next May.

He was born in Alton in 1926 before moving to East St. Louis. Davis died in 1991.
