ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — Those who would save the historic, but unstable, Cupples 7 building south of the stadium are still holding out hope.
Vertical Realty met with the city on Wednesday, and a representative says they’re now waiting to hear back.
In the meantime, St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay notes that the city has been working for a long time to find a developer capable of saving ‘seven’.
“We looked all over the United States, we’ve had people come and look at this that are qualified and quality,” says Slay. “So far we haven’t found anybody willing to take that on for anything that makes senses for the city.”
Last week, the sticking point was over city incentives that the developers were seeking.
Cupples 7 is the last undeveloped building in the Cupples complex, but it’s in bad shape, and the city says it could collapse at any time.
