Storms Again Hit St. Louis

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Another line of strong thunderstorms pushed through the St Louis area Sunday evening, dumping large amounts of rain, prompting numerous flash flood watches and warnings.

There were also some flood warnings issued, the majority of them in the Metro East.

The National Weather Service reported almost four inches of rain fell in the vicinity of Scott Air Force Base and Mid-America Airport between 6 and 9 p.m.

The storms also knocked the power out for thousands of people in both Missouri and Illinois. At one point, 13,000 Ameren customers were without power in the Metro East.

In Missouri 2,300 outages were reported in St. Louis County and another 730 in Jefferson County.

The storms brought some strong winds as well. Gusts reached 50 mph in St Clair County.

In Wentzville a home sustained heavy damage after being struck by lightning.
