ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — Blues GM Doug Armstrong announced Wednesday the club has re-signed forward Patrik Berglund to a one-year contract.

“We are pleased to have Patrik signed for the 2013-14 season,” said Armstrong. “Patrik is an important part of our group as we continue to chase the ultimate prize.”

Berglund, 25, dressed in all 48 games this season tying for fourth on the club with 25 points while ranking second with 17 goals, tying for the team lead with three game-winning goals and leading the team with two shorthanded goals. In addition, Berglund led the National Hockey League (NHL) overall in shooting percentage with a 23% success rate.

Berglund, along with David Backes, is one of two players to appear in all 130 Blues games over the past two seasons while he leads the club with 36 total goals over that stretch. Since entering the NHL in 2008, Berglund ranks ninth among all Swedish-born players with 188 points and eighth with 92 goals. Overall, the 6’3”, 217-pound forward has appeared in five NHL seasons accumulating 188 points including 92 goals and 96 assists to go along with 100 penalty minutes in 358 career regular season games while tallying nine points (four goals, five assists) in 19 career postseason games.

The Vasteras, Sweden native was originally drafted by the Blues in the first round, 25th overall, of the 2006 Entry Draft.
