ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) – Pretty soon it will be hard to walk or drive anywhere in the Central West End without being watched by the eye-in-the-sky.

More than 70 cameras will be recording activities 24-hours a day, collecting information that can help police solve crimes.

Organizing the effort is a group called the “Neighborhood Security Initiative (NSI).”

NSI officials say a recent study conducted by the St. Louis Police Department shows a 40 percent drop in crime since the program first launched five years ago.

NSI will be opening their own offices on North Euclid for open house sessions from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight.
