NFL Network’s annual The Top 100 Players of 2013 Presented by Buffalo Wild Wings list came out recently for the year 2013, a list that failed to include a single St. Louis Rams player.

Despite the Rams drastic turnaround from 2-14 (2011-12) to 7-8-1 (2012-13) the voters, who comprise strictly of NFL players, did not believe any rams deserved a nod on the list. The Oakland Raiders, who finished 4-12, were the only other team in the league that failed to get a player on the list. The Rams finished the season with a better record than 17 other teams in the NFL, and had victories against playoff teams such as the Seattle Seahawks, Washington Redskins, and the Super Bowl representative from the NFC, the San Francisco 49’ers, who they also tied in their second meeting.

The Rams beat 25% of the players on the list this past season. Despite a worse record in 2011-12, the Rams managed to get two players on the 2012 list, Steven Jackson listed at 37, one spot up from his 2010-2011 ranking, and Chris Long at 84. Cortland Finnegan who at the time was a member of the Tennessee titans also made it on the list at number 93.

The Rams that potentially could have cracked the list were Steven Jackson, who accumulated over 1,000 yards rushing for his eighth straight season. Cornerback Janoris Jenkins, who had his rookie season last year put up 73 tackles, defended 14 passes, and picked off four, returning three of those for touchdowns. These statistics outmatch those of Kansas City chiefs cornerback Brandon Flowers, who had only 48 tackles, 13 passes defended and three interceptions, none of which were returned for touchdowns and Charles Woodson also managed to make the list at cornerback, despite being injured for the duration of the season, and having only 38 tackled and one interception. Both of Flowers and Woodson still managed to make the list.
