ST. LOUIS–(KMOX)–In search of something more, tens of thousands of people are wandering the Arch grounds at Fair St. Louis taking in air shows, musical performances and rich food.
Thick smoke drifting from food booths tempts passersby with the aromas of lamb, cheese and steak sandwiches , funnel cakes and deep fried potato chips.
Fairgoer Megan Stevens chose a corn dog on a stick, slathered with mustard — along with a hand made lemonade to wash it down.
“I’ve been eating these all my life,” Stevens said, “I’m in good health.”
Stunt planes trailing white smoke roared past the Arch, doing loops, steep climbs, stalls and life insurance dives toward the river, always pulling up in time.
On the stage tonight, performances include the Righteous Hillbillies at 6:30, Salute to the Troops at 7:00, and Bret Michaels at 8:00.
Fireworks will follow.
The Fair opens for its final day Saturday with an air show planned for 5:00 p.m.. County Cows takes the main stage at 8:00 p.m..
