ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) – A security guard responding to people lighting fireworks off from inside a car in north St. Louis was hit by that car Friday morning.

It happened around 1 a.m. in the 3400 block of Hamilton. Police say a security guard from a nearby apartment complex tried to talk to the people light off fireworks, but instead was hit by the suspects who sped off.

Officials say the car then hit a parked car and then a building.

No word yet on the condition of the guard, but his injuries are not considered life threatening. The driver of the car was taken into custody.
