Brock Peterson to Compete in Triple-A All-Star Home Run Derby

Brock Peterson of the Memphis Redbirds has been selected to compete in the 2013 Triple-A All-Star Home Run Derby. Other Derby contestants are Johnny Monell and Matt Davidson, also of the PCL, as well as Chris Colabello, Mauro Gomez and Ernesto Mejia, from the International League.

With the Redbirds this season, Peterson is hitting .308, leads the PCL with 20 home runs and ranks second in RBI’s, with 63.

All six players with compete against each other and be joined by Kody Reynolds of McQueen High School in Reno, Nev. Reynolds advanced from a field of 16 hitters, all of whom were competing for a spot in the derby.

Last year’s derby winner, Valentino Pascucci of the Buffalo Bisons hit 22 home runs to take the trophy.

This year’s contest will take place on Monday, July 15th at Aces Ballpark in Reno, Nev. at 7.05 p.m. PST.
