ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — The nine-year-old boy who was shot in the head while in his father’s SUV early Wednesday morning has died, and police say his father and the other passengers are not cooperating with investigators.
According to police, Tyrese Short was a passenger in an SUV when he was shot by a person in another car around 3:35 a.m. Wednesday on Goodfellow Blvd. near Laura Ave. Short’s 42-year-old father, an 18-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man were also in the car. Short was the only person injured.
St. Louis Police Captain Michael Sack tells KMOX Short’s father isn’t providing much information about what they were doing or where they were going when the shooting happened.
“Based on the criminal history of the father, there’s a history of narcotics violations, and the driver, who has a recent weapons violation, it’s possible that they were the intended target,” he says.
Sack is asking anyone with information to call police.
