ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – A dog who was allegedly set on fire while chained in his owner’s backyard has died.
“The poor guy didn’t stand a chance,” Stray Rescue founder Randy Grim told KMOX this morning.
The Shepherd-Terrier mix nicknamed, Brownie was found Thursday chained to a burning bush at a home in the 4300 block of Cote Brilliante. The dog’s owner first called St. Louis’ Animal Cruelty Task Force with the words “my dog is on fire.”
Grim said he and his team started working right away to try and find whoever set the dog on fire. “We can see where they used an accelerant where the dog was chained to the burnt down portion of the bush.”
A cash reward is being offered. The cruelty task force hotline is (314)771-6121
This is the second time in less than a week, St. Louis’ Animal Cruelty Task Force had been called.
Grim says the other case of cruelty is one of two dogs who were starved to death.
Grim also says donations to help with medical bills of abused animals can be made on-line at www.stracksfund.org
