PACIFIC, Mo. (KMOX) — The northern Illinois father and son who disappeared along the Meramec River near Pacific Palisades on July 2nd have been found.

Franklin County Sheriff Gary Toelke tells KMOX Michael and David Hill were found Thursday night after 16-year-old David went to a woman’s home asking for water. Police then tracked the two down. Toelke says they were staying in a tent near some railroad tracks about 12 miles from where they were last seen.

Toelke says they apparently wanted to get away from some family issues. He says except for some chigger bites and ticks, they’re fine.
