EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) - The search is underway for a paroled sex offender who authorities say bolted from his East St. Louis halfway house.

The Belleville News-Democrat reports authorities with the Illinois Department of Corrections are searching for 40-year-old Frederick Buettner.

He was convicted in Madison County in 2004 after being charged with felony predatory criminal sexual assault. He was paroled in May.

Buettner’s described as 5-foot-11 and 155 pounds, with blonde or strawberry-blonde hair and a tattoo of a tiger head on his back.

Anyone with information about Buettner’s location is asked to call police.
