Sen. Blunt’s Bill Allows Citizens to Record IRS

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Missouri Senator Roy Blunt and Kansas Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins plan introduce legislation allowing citizens to record conversations with the Internal Revenue Service and other federal government officials.

“[This will] level the playing field between individuals and the people who are regulating or investigating them at the federal level,” Blunt says.

The republican says the legislation, called the Citizens Empowerment Act, would only level the playing field since the government can legally record the same conversation.

“Right now the government has capacity that individuals don’t have and I think this will help level the playing field,” Blunt says.

Blunt plans to introduce the bill in the Senate next week and Jenkins will do the same in the House.
