24 Church Members Involved in Bus Crash Returning Home

ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KMOX) — Several members of a St. Charles church who were injured in traffic accident in Georgia this week, are due back home Friday evening.

Twenty-four members of First Baptist Church on Muegge Road were heading to a church camp when their van ran off a highway and struck a tree near Chatsworth, Georgia Wednesday night.

According to the Pastor Buddy Perstrope’s blog, 17 of the 24 were taken to a hospital, most were treated and released, but one child was kept overnight with a concussion and lacerated liver, and three adults suffered more serious injuries including internal bleeding, broken ribs, a broken leg and broken vertebrae.

Two of them had to undergo surgery.

A second church bus was sent south Thursday it will bring the students back home today.
