Teenage Carjacker Leads Police on South Side Pursuit

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – A teenage carjacking suspect is in jail after leading police on a long and dangerous high-speed pursuit early Thursday morning.

Police say the 15-year-old carjacked a couple at gunpoint in the 3800 block of Osceola at about 2:30 a.m.

A short time later, St. Louis police spotted the vehicle at Meramec and Chippewa and the chase began.

Over the next 20 minutes, the teen led officers through the streets of south St. Louis, ramming a police car at one point.

Eventually police used spike strips to flatten the car’s tires and the suspect stopped at Louisiana and Gasconade. He was initially taken to a hospital to be checked out but neither he nor the officers involved were injured.
