ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Investigators are trying to determine if two early morning smash and grab burglaries are related.

Both happened early Monday morning—one in the City of St. Louis and one in St. Louis County.

The city burglary occurred around 4:30 a.m. when someone slammed a stolen pick-up into Sam Light Loans at Jefferson and Olive.

The county crime took place an hour later when someone smashed a vehicle through the front door of the Park and Shop Liquor Store at 8800 Jennings Station Road.

Police recovered an abandoned red pickup truck at I-70 and Lucas and Hunt. They believe the truck, which was stolen from the city, may have been used in the crimes.

The owner of the pick-up used in the Sam Light burglary, says his truck was being followed by a red truck when it was stolen around 4 a.m.
