ARNOLD, Mo. (AP) — An eastern Missouri man is charged with involuntary manslaughter for allegedly pointing a gun at his roommate, asking if he trusted him, then firing a fatal shot into his torso.
Charges were filed Tuesday against 21-year-old Keith Wildharber of Arnold. He is jailed on $10,000 bond.
Authorities say Wildharber and Matthew Knight were drinking with two other people Monday night in their apartment when Wildharber pulled a 9mm pistol from his waistband. A probable cause statement says Wildharber partially removed the magazine and ejected ammunition from the chamber, then reinserted the magazine and pointed the gun at Knight.
After asking if Knight trusted him, Wildharber allegedly pulled the trigger. Knight was pronounced dead shortly after midnight Tuesday at a hospital.
