ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — Though home prices are skyrocketing in other cities, St. Louis is seeing more modest numbers.
Coldwell Banker Gundaker president Jim Dohr says year to date, prices are about 8 or 9 percent higher across the region.
But he says fewer people are buying homes than in previous years.
“First time buyers typically are forty percent of the market,” says Dohr. “We’re seeing now that first time buyers are less than 30% of the market place.”
He says the biggest obstacle for many is financing.
