Illinois State Fair Kicks Off Thursday

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Hundreds of thousands of visitors are expected to descend on Springfield for the 160th Illinois State Fair.

During the 10-day state fair that begins on Thursday, fair goers will be able to chat with an Abraham Lincoln impersonator, watch the Budweiser Clydesdales and bite into deep-fried Oreo cookies and other treats.

The fair’s music series lineup includes performances by country stars Toby Keith and Kip Moore, pop artist Ke$ha, rock musician John Mayer and the band Journey. The grandstand will also be the site of harness racing and auto racing on some days.

Admission to the fair is $7 for adults, $3 for children, with free admission for seniors and veterans on special days.
