ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – The St. Louis Fire Department is investigating a fire that claimed the life of a north St. Louis man.
St. Louis Fire Department Captain Dan Sutter says it occurred just before three o’clock Friday afternoon.
Firefighters responded to a call for a fire in the 5000 block of Lotus Avenue.
“Firefighters arrived on the scene, a three-story brick occupied residential home. The home had heavy fire on the first floor, in the rear area, with smoking coming out of all three floors,” Sutter explained. “Firefighters made entry in, did a primary search, and extinguished the fire. They located one victim, an adult male.”
That victim was found on the second floor. Attempts were made to get him to an ambulance but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sutter says it is too early in the investigation to know the cause of the fire. The victim’s identity has not been released.
