ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — July was the biggest single month of ridership for Amtrak in its history. The federally-subsidized corporation announced the news Wednesday.
Nationally, Amtrak ridership was up more than 2.9 million, or up 4.8 percent from July 2012.
Amtrak spokesman Craig Schultz broke that down for our area. He said The Lincoln, which travels between Chicago and St. Louis, was up 73.3 percent last month, year-over-year.
The Missouri River Runner, from St. Louis to Kansas City, saw an almost 7 percent increase.
Schutlz said the beauty of train travel is you get to “spread out a bit,” “get work done.”
