ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A new study finds drastic differences between Missouri and Illinois when it comes to how the two states help couples dealing with infertility issues.
Missouri received an “F” grade and was ranked 48th in the nation on a fertility scorecard compiled by Resolve: The National Infertility Association.
The association’s CEO Barbara Collura says the ranking does not reflect the quality of infertility care in Missouri.
“It does show that there may be some room for improvement in both the support that patients are receiving as well as perhaps the legislative climate in Missouri and, really, accessing care and that has a lot to do with lack of insurance coverage for infertility,” she explains.
Illinois received an “A” rating and ranked third in the nation due to a law requiring insurance coverage for fertility treatments.
