Jury Recommends Death Penalty in Double Murder Case

LEBANON, MO. (KMOX) – The murder of an elderly couple in their remote home near Bennett Spring has resulted in a jury’s recommendation for execution for the convicted killer.

82 year old Johnnie Wilson and his 76 year old wife Coleen were celebrating their 59th wedding anniversary on a July evening in 2010.

They had gone back to their home in a secluded area near Lebanon Missouri where they met a man in the process of burglarizing their home.

At gunpoint he forced them inside where he raped Coleen Wilson then shot her and suffocated and shot her husband Johnnie.

In closing arguments Attorney General Chris Koster told jurors defendant Jesse Driskill “never gave them a chance to say goodbye” or tell each other “I love you.”

In the penalty phase Koster said “if the death penalty isn’t reserved for an 18 time convicted criminal who raped, sodomized, tortured and killed an elderly couple then we should all ask ourselves why in the world we have this law at all.”
