‘School of Rock’ Opens in Ballwin

BALLWIN, Mo. (KMOX) – If your son or daughter wants to play music but has no interest in Beethoven, a music school in Ballwin is offering up 12 weeks of Pink Floyd or hair metal.

“School of Rock is a place that gives music lessons and then puts kids in shows and they perform rock music,” co-founder Jordan Rinaberger says.

The new location opened August 1 at 14560 Manchester Road. The franchise launched in 1998 and now has over 100 schools, according to its website.

“We teach kids the knowledge you would get in any music lesson but then we give them something to do with it,” Rinaberger adds. “We give them a fun outlet in a social setting to play their instrument and perform with their friends.”

The school teaches guitar, bass, vocals, keyboards, and drums to students ages seven to 18.

Rinaberger says students will learn how to set the stage and do sound checks. The school hosts three performances by its students each year.
