1 Killed, 3 Hurt in South County Fire; Police Investigate

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – St. Louis County police are investigating a house fire that left one person dead and three others injured.

The fire broke out about 1:25 a.m. Tuesday at 10005 St. Simon Court. A girl, 13, ran to a nearby house and a neighbor dialed 911.

Firefighters retrieved three people from the home.

Terry Gapsch, 38, was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

Georgetta Gapsch, 79, and Maci Gapsch, 11, were listed in critical condition Tuesday morning.

A St. Louis County Police spokesperson said arson and explosives officials are investigating. They believe the fire started in the basement of the home.
