Belleville Police Receive $40,000 Donation From Injured Officer

BELLEVILLE, Ill. (KMOX) – The Belleville Police Trust Fund will receive a $40,000 donation tonight.

The money will be earmarked for safety and operational gear for patrol officers, according to the Belleville Police Department.

In 2011, Belleville Police Sgt. Jon Brough won a settlement with a ballistic shield manufacturer after losing his sense of smell in a 2006 shooting. A confidential sum was awarded to Brough.

Part of that settlement is being donated back to the department from Armstrong Teasdale LLC, the law firm that represented Bough. Last year, the St. Louis Police Foundation received $10,000 from the firm.

The check will be presented at Belleville City Hall tonight at seven o’clock.
