EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (KMOX) — The Illinois Department of Transportation announced a road construction project Tuesday that will significant impact Illinois drivers traveling into St. Louis along interstate 64.
Officials say westbound I-64 will be reduced to one lane between 18th Street and 9th Street in East St. Louis from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4, 2013, weather permitting. These lane restrictions are necessary to construct barrier wall along I-64.
Motorists are encouraged to utilize alternate routes during this period. The Department asks that motorists be patient, reduce speed, obey all warning signs, and use additional caution when traveling near and throughout this work zone.
The contractor on this project is Keeley & Sons of E. St. Louis, Illinois.
