St. Louis County Police K-9 Bites City Officer

FENTON, Mo. (KMOX) — A St. Louis County Police officer filled-out a “use of force” report Thursday morning, after his police dog bit a St. Louis City Police officer during a joint police pursuit overnight.

The problem? The city officer was in plain clothes, so when he approached the county officer the dog didn’t know he was a cop and did what he is trained to do, protect his handler.

The city officer received several stitches at a local hospital.

This happened on May Valley Drive near Fenton while officers from both jurisdictions were looking for two of three car break-in suspects.

St. Louis City police first spotted the stolen vehicle near interstate 70 and Bircher in north St. Louis and had chased it to May Valley Drive.

Authorities took the driver in to custody, but the two other suspects escaped into the woods. They are still at large.
