Mo. House Speaker Intends to Run for Attorney General

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – While stopping short of announcing he is running for the office, Missouri House Speaker Tim Jones, R-Eureka, told KMOX News Thursday that it is his intention to campaign for Missouri’s attorney general seat in 2016.

“We’re looking at it hard,” he said on The Mark Reardon Show. “It is my intention to seek that office but an official announcement is going to have to wait.”

Jones says there is a lot of preparation, including fundraising, that needs to be done before he can make an official announcement.

Two-term Attorney General Chris Koster, a Democrat, won reelection last year. In April, Koster announced he is preparing to run for governor in 2016.
