ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – The St. Louis Blues announced Friday that they have reached a seven-year agreement with defenseman Alex Pietrangelo.
“We’re excited to have Alex in the fold for the next seven years as he will continue be a key component of our franchise,” said General Manager Doug Armstrong. “He is an elite defenseman in this league and will be for years to come.”
The team announced two days ago that Pietrangelo would not be joining the team for the start of training camp after the two sides were unable to reach a contract agreement.
“Talks between the Blues and Alex’s camp have broken off for now and Alex will not be reporting for our camp today,” Armstrong said Wednesday.
The 23-year-old defenseman played in 47 games last year, scoring 24 points.
Financial terms of the agreement were not announced Friday.
