Missouri Teen Birth Rate Falls Again

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Missouri is seeing another drop in its teen birth statistics.

Nationally, birth rates for teenage mothers hit another historic low last year in the United States.

The teen birth rate has been falling since 1991. Teen births in Missouri last year totaled nearly 6,400, compared to nearly 7,000 the year before.

The teen birth rate for Missouri girls between the ages of 15 and 19 in 2012 was 32.2 births per 1,000 teenage girls. That is down from a rate of 34.4 in 2011.

Nationally, the teen birth rate is 29.4 births per 1,000 teenage girls.
