Fairview Heights Man Gets 20 Years in Heroin Case

FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (KMOX) – A 30-year-old man from Fairview Heights is headed to prison for 20 years for distributing heroin.

Joseph L. Robinson pleaded guilty to selling two buttons of heroin to Donnie Baumann, 22, who then overdosed and died in December of 2010. Robinson was arrested in November of 2011.

In a statement, U.S. Attorney Stephen Wigginton says that this harsh sentence should serve as a warning to other heroin dealers.

“This severe federal prison sentence should put drug dealers on notice that they peddle heroin at their own risk, and those risks are considerable,” he said. “My office will continue its initiative to stop the heroin overdose epidemic among our young citizens. The prosecution and sentencing of Robinson is part of our ongoing anti-heroin initiative.”
