Smash-and-Grab Thieves Hit Olivette Jewelry Store

OLIVETTE, Mo. (KMOX) - Police in the St. Louis suburb of Olivette are searching for smash-and-grab thieves who drove into a jewelry store, next to the Olivette Police station, took some items, then left.
The crime happened about 5 a.m. Monday at Timekeepers jewelry store. An officer nearby heard the alarm sound and a chase began. Police gave up the pursuit after about six miles on Interstate 170 out of safety concerns. The search for the thieves continues.
It wasn’t immediately clear how much merchandise was taken from the store, which sells jewelry, coins and antiques.
The thieves left behind the truck they used to drive through the front windows, it had been stolen in St.Louis five days ago.
