GLEN CARBON, Ill. (KMOX) – A Glen Carbon man is accused of fatally punching the 5-year-old son of his fiancee.

24-year-old Tavon Ludy was arrested on Sunday after deputies with the Madison County sheriff’s department responded to a home in the 2100 block of Rose Knoll lane for the report of an unresponsive child.

5-year-old Torian Whittaker could not be revived.

Investigators determined that the boy died after being punched in the chest by Ludy and that it was part of a regular pattern of abuse.

The boy’s mother, 27-year-old Toria Coleman, was arrested for endangering the life or health of a child.

The boy’s sibling has been removed from the home.
